Guest:  Trish Serratore - Senior VP of Communications for ASE
Trish Serratore’s passion for the automotive industry runs deep. Her career started at Motor Age Magazine as their business editor, and she never looked back. Today she serves as the Senior Vice President of Communications for the National Institute for Automotive Excellence (ASE). Prior to her current position, Serratore was president of the ASE Education Foundation, the education arm of ASE where she oversaw automotive program accreditation at secondary and post-secondary institutions as well as student career development initiatives. Trish has been repeatedly recognized for her contributions to the industry. received the Automotive Hall of Fame’s Young Leadership and Excellence Award for outstanding achievements in the automotive industry and the Akzo Nobel award as one of the most influential women in the collision repair industry. She also has been named one of the “Top 100 Women in the Automotive Industry” by Automotive News.

Guest:  Hannah Stout Ortega - Auto Mechanic and Fabricator
She left her home state when she was 19 to pursue an education and a better life for herself. Not only was she successful at doing just that, but now she’s passionate about helping others less fortunate do the same. Hannah is an automotive technician and an aspiring fabricator who, at only 24, is just getting started with what is sure to be a phenomenal career.
She graduated WyoTech in 2020 and that same year received the Jessi Combs Foundation Scholarship that, in her words, changed her life. While she loves working in the industry, it is her dream to one day open a shop that combines her passions - cars/trucks, art, and outreach/education for underserved women and children.

She is a shop owner and a powerful and inspiring leader within the automotive aftermarket. She is the incoming vice chair of Women in Auto Care, she was 2018 Women in Auto Care’s Shop Owner of the Year, and has testified before the Energy & Commerce House Subcommittee advocating for HR906 The REPAIR Act. She is also a business coach and a proud mom of 2, passionate about lifting others up through community and education.

Guest:  Lindsey Wood - Mechanic and Shop Owner
Tonight’s guest took a chance on a new adventure and life direction, and it has paid off! Lindsey Wood had always been interested in cars, but never really had an opportunity to explore working on them. She was in an established career when her brother approached her about going into the automotive business. She took the leap and dove in head first.
Lindsey is now the owner, manager and one of the mechanics at Meineke of Provo in Utah, and despite the initial shock of it being owned and run by a woman, the community has embraced her and she has developed a reputation for top notch work and excellent customer service.

Guest: Alana Wicker - Robot Technician and Metal Artist
While most people in their early 20s are still in school or figuring out what they want to do in life, tonight’s guest already has an established career in the trades and was financially stable enough at 21 to help her dad renovate houses and build a shop of her own! Alana Wicker is proof positive that there is more than 1 path to success in life and of the incredible opportunities that a career in the trades can offer.
Alana began welding at 17 and had earned her certificates by 19. In her words “welding has changed my mindset from ‘oh - someone else can do it…’ to ‘Girl, I can do that!’” Today, at just 24, she is a Robotics Technician and a Metal Artist. She loves that her path in the trades allows her to create, to be constantly challenged, and that she is always growing and learning new skills. She is passionate about inspiring the next generation and living an authentic and meaningful life.

Guest:  Meg Richards - ASE Master Automotive Technician
Margarette, or Meg, started her automotive career as a teen in high school. 20 years later, her love for the industry hasn’t waned. She is the Lead Technician and General Manager at her shop and is in the process of taking over the business from the current owner as he prepares to retire.
In 2022 Meg was the first female recipient of the NAPA ASE Technician of the Year award. She is passionate about getting more people, especially women, into the trades and she has mentored several apprentices who have successfully continued on in their career as technicians. At her shop she’s committed to supporting her team and maintaining a safe and friendly work environment.

Guest: Zoe Carmichael - Historic Automotive Restoration student
Zoe Carmichael was working an office job before her classic  VW Bug came into her life.  She quickly fell in love with classic cars and learning how to work on them.  So she rewrote her life.  Quit her office job and enrolled in the auto program at Wake Tech in Raleigh, NC to learn the basics.  That ultimately led her driving her bug across the country to to study Historic Automotive Restoration at McPherson College, the only college in the country that offers the major as a bachelor's degree.
When she's not in class, she works at the Garage, a female-run car museum. She wants to help more women get into the world of classic cars. Zoe is an ambassador for the Jessi Combs Foundation as well as the Piston Foundation and has been featured in Hagerty Drivers Club magazine.

Guest: Serena Grundhauser - Welder, Machinist and small business owner
From regular viewer to guest - I’m excited this week to be joined by Serena Grundhauser! When the tragedy of multiple serious head injuries occurred, Serena wasn’t willing to slow down and she turned that tragedy into a major life change. She went from working in mental health, to attending college as an adult for the the first time in her life. She graduated with honors from Highlands College - MT Tech as the first female to obtain double Associate Degree in Metal Fabrication and Precision Machining. She has since started her own small metal fabrication business outside of Butte Montana and describes herself as a “welder, machinist, backyard mechanic, fabricator, waitress, and Jill of all trades!” And she is passionate about mentoring and helping more women get into the trades.

Jenny Kovacs has been killing it in the automotive industry for 14 years!  She is a graduate of the Ford ASSET program and is now a Ford Senior Master Technician and part owner of Chris and Jenny’s Garage.  She is is also ASE Master certified, and a certified Transmission specialist, mom of 2 AND sits on the board of the ASE Education Foundation!  Never one to stop learning and growing, Jenny is also diesel and EV certified and her career and drive is showing no signs of slowing down.
