During her pregnancy, she is continuing to contribute to the industry she loves by taking on the role of body shop estimator. Genevieve's passion for cars began early on, leading her to attend a technical high school where she studied collision repair from her sophomore to senior years. Facing challenges in finding work after graduation, she decided to further her education at Pennsylvania College of Technology, where she double majored in collision repair and restoration. Her dedication and expertise earned her a position at Vintage Motor Car, where she worked on body and paint, contributing to some remarkable restoration projects. Makayla Andrews is a trailblazing heavy equipment diesel technician and the first female apprentice at her company. While she started in the shop, she now works in coal mines, construction sites, pipelines, and other tough, male-dominated environments, fixing massive machinery and challenging stereotypes with skill and humor. Growing up on a farm, her love for tinkering turned into a passion for engines that led her to take shop classes in high school, initially to become more self-reliant. With a strong background in process improvement, strategy, and people management, Felicia Keys has built an impressive career in the automotive industry. She joined DriveTime eight years ago and took their accelerated leadership program. She has risen to become the sole female director of a massive reconditioning facility in Georgia for DriveTime. Ella Zuverink started her automotive career at 14 with her first truck, an 81 Chevy K20 that she’s now restoring with her sister. Ella’s journey took her from GM technician to sole service advisor at an independent shop. Today, she’s channeling her skills and ambition into Automobella LLC, her own detailing business, where she wears every hat, from marketing to customer service. Fueled by a passion for motorcycles, she attended the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute and became a skilled motorcycle and powersports technician. Now, with over a decade of experience, she’s master trained in everything from Suzuki and Honda to Indian, Polaris, and more. With a determined mindset and focus, she’s thriving in an industry that hasn’t always been welcoming to women. Her secret? Staying confident, rising above negativity, and letting her expertise speak for itself.

When her dad gave her an erector set for Christmas, little did he know he would spark Emily Sabi’s passion for robotics. In high school she joined a robotics program, where she gained hands-on experience and competed in numerous robotics competitions. Though Emily began her college education studying mechanical engineering, she was ultimately led back to her true calling and earned a degree in robotics. Today she is a robotics engineer specializing in robotics software and maintenance training. Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting Emily when she came out to participate in the all female build at Girl Gang Garage. Tune in as she shares her story!

Riley is a body tech working at a shop that works on mostly custom vehicles with classic looks. Riley grew up around cars and had a slight interest when she was younger but never considered it as a career. She originally started out in a paramedic program in college which she discovered wasn’t for her and ended up switching gears and graduated with an associates degree for automotive restoration. Riley is still fairly new to the industry however, in 2020 she was part of a team of students that did a partial restoration on a 1929 Duesenberg J and brought it to the Amelia Island concours. Her insight, attitude and passion goes far beyond her years.

Three years ago, Beccah Nadeau made a life changing decision to go to welding school though she had never even tried it before. Her family laughed at her and her partner tried everything to stop her. In her words, he tried to “keep her small.” Despite the opposition, she spent three years creating numerous opportunities for herself and is now an AWS Certified Welder who crafts Jeep bumpers and tractor accessories and dreams of having her own custom welding and repair business. Most importantly, She went from a girl who got fired for not smiling enough, to the girl who never stops smiling.

Kaylynn Simmons started her racing career at just seven by go-kart racing that sparked a lifelong love for motorsports. Her interest deepened in high school when she attended a vocational program in automotive technology, which led her to the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH). Graduating high school at just 17, she pursued UNOH's automotive, high-performance, and CDL programs while also competing on their collegiate motorsports team. Despite initially setting her sights on NASCAR, Kaylynn shifted paths after friends shared the limited opportunities in the sport. She eventually found her place as a clutch specialist for an NHRA drag racing team. In her role, she builds and maintains the clutches for the team’s dragster and even drives the race hauler across the country for events. Additionally, she gathers data on the track and performs welding tasks, showcasing her versatile skill set. Listen along as Kaylynn shares how she became a sought after team member and shows gratitude to those that “raised her up” in her career.
