87. From Go-Karts to NHRA: Her Road to Racing Success

Kaylynn Simmons started her racing career at just seven by go-kart racing that sparked a lifelong love for motorsports. Her interest deepened in high school when she attended a vocational program in automotive technology, which led her to the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH). Graduating high school at just 17, she pursued UNOH's automotive, high-performance, and CDL programs while also competing on their collegiate motorsports team. Despite initially setting her sights on NASCAR, Kaylynn shifted paths after friends shared the limited opportunities in the sport. She eventually found her place as a clutch specialist for an NHRA drag racing team. In her role, she builds and maintains the clutches for the team’s dragster and even drives the race hauler across the country for events. Additionally, she gathers data on the track and performs welding tasks, showcasing her versatile skill set.
