68. Welding Saved Her Life
In 2010, Sara found herself addicted to Opioids, committing crimes, arrested and sentenced to five years in prison. During her incarceration, she was able to find sobriety and access to college classes and a trade school program. Though she achieved her associates, the trade school had her heart. She discovered a passion for welding and honed her new skill making trash cans and grills for state parks. Upon her release, she immediately landed a job with a large company specializing in industrial laundry equipment, where she still enjoys working today. In addition to her career and being a new mom, Sara gives back through the Hooded Heroes Foundation. A movement of welders helping future welders overcome financial obstacles.
In this episode, Sara opens up about the challenges she faced, including the impact of sexual harassment on her life, how gratitude played a crucial role in her spiritual awakening and offers personal advice to young women.
